More Noir, please

Kiss Me DeadlyWriting, reading, and chilling with the occasional movie leaves precious little time for other pursuits. So, when I’m not reading, writing or watching a mystery I do a little research. I came across this article this week naming the top 10 noir films. How can you go wrong with an article that begins with, “Guns, dames, and hats: you can’t have a film noir without them, can you?”

The article provides a bit of background on each choice and whets the appetite for more. It’s hard to pick a favorite but I if I had to choose, I think I’d go with Double indemnity or Kiss Me Deadly. I’d quibble with the articles writers for including China Town. It doesn’t do it for me. You may as well include Casablanca, not a film noir per se, but a film that reflects the genres elements of t setting, mood, cinematic style, and typical romantic lone hero.

What’s your top noir film? Check out this 2011 article from the Guardian and find your new favorite.
