Over at Murder & Mayhem they ask the question who is the best (or worst as the case may be) of the bad ladies of film noir. Barbara Stanwyck in Double Double Indemnity is number one on their list. I can’t fault that choice. Rita Hayworth in Gilda and Ann Blyth as Veda Pierce in Mildred Pierce are also on the list. There are many more in the gallery of bad beautiful women of the silver screen. My favorite, well that would have to be Mary Astor, as Brigid O’Shaughnessy in The Maltese Falcon.
