I was recently looking for something new to read and came across a fantastic website. Ash Tales Stories of the Apocalypse is a smart, fun website by author, musician, and content maker Ryan Law. This site identifies itself as the Home of Post-apocalyptic Fiction. How could they go wrong with links like The Ultimate Guide to Post-apocalyptic Fiction, Tthe 128 Best Post-apocalyptic Books and the 11 Best Apocalyptic Books Series, and much more?
I found I had read many of the recommendations, such as Walter M. Miller’s A Canticle for Leibowitz, Kurt Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle, Nevil Shute’s On the Beach, David Brin’s The Postman and The Wild Shore by Kim Stanley Robinson. Ultimately, I settled on an old standby Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank. I studied this book in Junior High School. That was long ago back they called it Junior High School.
I highly recommend Ash Tales, Stories of the Apocalypse, for its breadth of material “exploring the end of the world through short stories, books, films, games, and podcasts.” I hope my friends will take a look and see what’s out there to explore.
